Simmons Jewelry Co. has officially launched the Green Initiative, the “Green Bracelet,” scheduled to hit select retail stores near the end of March.The announcement came directly from Simmons Jewelry Co. owners Russell and Kimora Lee Simons.
The Green Initiative is a unique combination of hip-hop-styled unisex jewelry in stainless steel, green rubber and diamonds. Proceeds from the collection benefit the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF), which is an international, non-profit organization that raises money to educate and uplift the people and communities of Africa. Half of the profits from sales of the Green Bracelet and a quarter of the profits from sales of the remainder of the Green Initiative collection will benefit the (DEF).The green bracelets, which retail for $125, are made from malachite beads and conflict free uncut diamonds mined in Africa. Each Academy Awards Green Bracelet was accompanied by a Gem Certification Assurance Lab report, stating that the diamonds are conflict free. The bracelet also came with a DVD message from Russell Simmons with footage from his trip to South Africa last year.
