The 2008 Basel Watch Fair sure had a lot of firsts. For example, the Breitling Avenger Seawolf Chronograph is the first and only chronongraph on the planet that is watertight and functional down to 1000 meters. Every time I present stats like these to the SCUBA divers that come into J.R.Dunn they smile and say ” If I’m down 3300ft my watch will be the last thing I’ll be worrying about!”. Then they usually end up falling in love with the watch! Great job Breitling, we are proud to be your Authorized Breitling Jeweler.

TAG Heuer has pulled off another first. The Caliper Chronograph has the ability to measure and display time in 1/1oths of a second! To top it off it’s hot looking to boot! This striking watch features a 43mm titanium carbide coated case and a Calibre 36 Rs movement with power reserve.

Basel 2008 Watch Fair Update - The Breitling for Bentley GMT Chronometer Chronograph. Well today was press day over at Basel and there were quite a few stunners! This new GMT from Breitling is sure to make a few hearts pound! I love the entire series but my personal favorite is the way it looks in rose gold on the black rubber strap! The red triangular shaped 24 hand is nice touch too! You can be sure our team from J.R.Dunn Jewelers will have the new Breitling GMT on order from the factory tomorrow!

Talk about a brand that is really coming into its own groove! Word has it that this year’s Corum Collection for 2008 will be even more focused than ever. Yes, there will always be the perennial classics like the Coin Watch, but to get an idea of where this company is headed look out for the refinement and evolution of collections like the Admirals Cup, Golden Bridge and now, the Romulus (or if you can pronounce Romvlvs) . Corum is very serious about catapulting to the top and taking its position alongside the true elite brands. They have made some serious headway with heavy investments into the development of new movements in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture. The end goal is to combine the highest degree of technology and quality of with the creative dynamics of Montres Corum to produce a wristwatch second to none.

I predict the 2008 Basel Watch Fair will be the most spectacular show in decades. So what causing all this excitement? On April 3rd, the world’s most respected watch manufacturer will be updating it’s website with its new 2008 Basel Collections. Speculation is abound about the new models and the buzz is big! Only three days away and counting……..How sweet this time of year is!
