The largest top quality diamond that Sotheby’s has ever had up for auction is causing quite a stir! The diamond is a round brilliant cut weighing 84.37 carats and is the highest color D and is Internally Flawless. In addition, cut, polish and symmetry have all been graded as Excellent! The diamond is being auctioned off in Geneva next month and is expected to go for $12 million up to $16 million! According to Fort Lauderdales’ Sun-Sentinel the diamond will be on display in Hong Kong, Paris, New York, Rome, Los Angeles, London, Dubai and Bahrain before the auction on November 12th.

But in reality guys….what do you think will happen to this diamond? Good luck in finding a match for that fabulous diamond stud earring set you always wanted. The ring thing just won’t work…talk about a headlight!

Neiman Marcus has come out with their 2007 Holiday Catalog marking their 100th Anniversary. One of the items in the catalog is a 305 carats rough diamond from the company Diamond In The Rough. The diamond has hues of rich golden, green and amber, it’s a VERY unique stone.

Treasured in the past by royalty, Maharajas, Kings and Queens rough diamonds were believed to harness all the natural powers of the earth and would protect the wearer from harm. Diamond In The Rough is a company that makes wonderful fashion pieces featuring uncut rough diamonds. Statement pieces were created for individual clients and then caught the eye of celebrities, socialites and the fashion elite. Demand grew to the point that the company officially launched as a brand in 2003.

Tyra Banks got officially engaged to long time boyfriend John Utendahl over the weekend according to MediaTakeOut.com. The 52 year old investment banker apparently got down on one knee and popped the question during a private dinner at his apartment in the Big Apple. We hear Tyra’s engagement ring is absolutely gorgeous and quite large. The diamond is reported to be over ten carats! You go girl!

P.S. Her ring is now officially known as America’s Top Bauble! (O.K., that was really bad)

We are fast approaching the ever important Holiday season and it time to give an update on the jewelry trends we reported in early 2007. Our clients demand for yellow has been even stronger than expected. Thank God, because yellow gold is 80% percent of what we bought at the jewelry shows this year! Another jewelry trend we reported earlier on was big gold hoops and what a bright spot hoops have been. Queen Latifah and Jennifer Morrison both wore Diamond in the Rough jewelry on the 2007 Emmy’s red carpet! Both women looked gorgeous wearing the unique designer jewelry featuring rough diamonds. Queen Latifah donned earrings and a bracelet from Diamond in the Rough’s new Iceberg Collection and Jennifer wore the Orielle stud earrings.

We stumbled upon this cutting edge designer while at the Vegas Jewelry show and thought the pieces were GORGEOUS! We will be getting this wonderful collection into our stores soon….I can’t wait!

Hey guys I found a great blog (The Art of the Stack) on Modern Jeweler’s website that shows some amazing photos from the 2007 MTV VMA’s! We did a Celebrity jewelry sighting post the other day telling you what everyone, who is anyone, was wearing. But talking about it and actually seeing the jewelry on Beyonce, Ashanti and Mary J.
