Jewelry Trends Update | Fall & Winter 2007

We are fast approaching the ever important Holiday season and it time to give an update on the jewelry trends we reported in early 2007. Our clients demand for yellow has been even stronger than expected. Thank God, because yellow gold is 80% percent of what we bought at the jewelry shows this year! Another jewelry trend we reported earlier on was big gold hoops and what a bright spot hoops have been. Not only have they been doing well in yellow gold, we have seen women falling in love with diamond hoops in large sizes all over again! (Check out Ashanti’s diamond hoops at the VMA’s). Speaking of Ashanti’s jewelry did you see the stacked diamond bracelets she was wearing? This has been a jewelry trend that we love! It’s quite over the top, but hey, if you can afford it why not! The rest of us can get this stacked look by going with several gold bangle bracelets which is more affordable and suitable for daytime wear.

Another trend we saw come to life at the VMA’s was colored diamonds but not like in years past. Before the diamonds shown were bright pinks and yellows, this year the colors were more muted like cognacs, softer yellows and even black. Fortunately we have got quite a bit of black and white jewelry coming in over the next few weeks to keep you up to date on the latest styles. We are particulary excited about the Fantasia Collection from Roberto Coin . This Italian jewelry icon always hits the jewelry trends dead on.

I’m sure by now your probably asking yourself which jewelry trends haven’t caught on yet? I mean we are pretty good at J.R.Dunn but no one has given us a crystal ball yet. Well, rose gold is gaining momentum but not as fast as it has been in Europe. I think when our world traveling clients return to South Florida for winter this will all change. And soon they will be receiving our 2008 Jewelry Fashion Book to give them some additional inspiration to don some rose gold!

Queen Latifah & Jennifer Morrison wearing Diamond in the Rough: Celebrity Sighting

Queen Latifah and Jennifer Morrison both wore Diamond in the Rough jewelry on the 2007 Emmy’s red carpet! Both women looked gorgeous wearing the unique designer jewelry featuring rough diamonds. Queen Latifah donned earrings and a bracelet from Diamond in the Rough’s new Iceberg Collection and Jennifer wore the Orielle stud earrings.

We stumbled upon this cutting edge designer while at the Vegas Jewelry show and thought the pieces were GORGEOUS! We will be getting this wonderful collection into our stores soon….I can’t wait!

Inside-Out Diamond Hoop Earrings: Hot Pick of the Day

Inside-Out Diamond Hoop Earrings are a must have! Girls, the VMA’s were awesome when it came to the jewelry this year….one of the things that caught my eye was the fact that big diamond hoops are still “big”. You might as well blame J Lo for this everlasting jewelry trend (she wears hoops a lot) ….and if anything, hoops are just getting bigger! Ashanti was wearing a large pair in our blog covering the jewelry at the VMA’s and they were gorgeous!

I chose these Inside-Out Diamond Hoop Earrings because they are somewhat affordable and I love the fact there are diamonds on the inside of the these hoops ….so from the front you see diamonds everywhere. To make sure is wasn’t just me thinking hoops are hotter than ever, I consulted some of our fashionable sales associates at J.R.Dunn Jewelers. Our girls confirmed the trend is still huge here in South Florida. The Florida girls are wearing so big they touch their shoulders. Chongalicious! (A little South Florida humor)

Hey guys I found a great blog (The Art of the Stack) on Modern Jeweler’s website that shows some amazing photos from the 2007 MTV VMA’s! We did a Celebrity jewelry sighting post the other day telling you what everyone, who is anyone, was wearing. But talking about it and actually seeing the jewelry on Beyonce, Ashanti and Mary J.
