Name: Topaz ~ Sanskrit for fire. Citrine ~ French for Lemon.

Colors: Topaz ~ red, orange, peach, pink, gold, yellow, brown and pale blues. Citrine ~ yellow, yellow-brown & reddish-brown.

Legends: Topaz was thought by the Greeks to increase strength and make it’s wearer invisible. Citrine was carried as protection from snake venom and evil thoughts.

Ancient uses: Citrine is known as the “healing quartz” and said to support vitality and health. Topaz was thought to heal physical and mental disorder and to prevent death.

Found: Topaz is found in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Russia. Citrine is found in Brazil, Russia, France and Madagascar.

Harry Winston is offering a reward for the return of jewelry stolen in an armed robbery earlier this month in Paris. On October 6th, three people entered the store and stole four watches, two pairs of earrings and three rings. The reward for the jewelry is more than $500,000.00 according to Idex.com.

The robbery is the largest jewelry theft since a 2004 jewelry heist on the Louvre Museum grounds during an antique show where two Chopard diamonds were stolen with a value of over 11.5 million euros (16.3 million US).

Wow is this one getting fishy! – According to Reuters, one of the first method used to test if the mineral found was a diamond was a garage grinder! The property developer, Brett Jolly, who isn’t in the diamond business stated “We put it on a garage grinder and it didn’t scratch, so what can it be?” …..What? No gemological testing yet? O.k. maybe they didn’t try to trick us but that’s very little scientific evidence to announce such a huge discovery on!
