DeBeers started the “Past, Present & Future” campaign a few years back and it’s powerful meaning took the jewelry industry by storm. The story goes…the first side diamond represents past love, the center and larger diamond represents present love and the second side diamond is for future love.

The look is wonderful but you don’t have to stick to run of the mill with this look. I have heard a lot of women say they thought that all the diamonds had to be the same shape or size. NOT TRUE! You can use any shapes that you wish! So don’t be afraid to put your own story/personality into the design of the ring. Think about using fancy color diamonds. They can be used as the center or side diamonds….anything you wish. Fancy color diamonds, especially blues and pinks, can be more premium priced but they can make your three stone ring magnificent and truly unique!

To see three stone diamond rings shop now at JRDunn.com!

Wow is this one getting fishy! – According to Reuters, one of the first method used to test if the mineral found was a diamond was a garage grinder! The property developer, Brett Jolly, who isn’t in the diamond business stated “We put it on a garage grinder and it didn’t scratch, so what can it be?” …..What? No gemological testing yet? O.k. maybe they didn’t try to trick us but that’s very little scientific evidence to announce such a huge discovery on!

It seems like the guys who found this rock might have gotten a little ahead of themselves but it’s easy to see why. Until yesterday, the largest rough diamond found to date was the Cullinan diamond weighing in at 3107 carats and once polished the stone ended up being set in the sceptre of King Edward VII which is now in the Tower of London. Yesterdays unconfirmed diamond find in South Africa weighed in at over 8,000 carats, more than double the Cullinan!

Speculation is abound and I’m sure this will be all put to rest tomorrow. Is it a Diamond or isn’t it? Who know’s but I’m hoping these guys happen to luck out and we’ve got the diamond find of the Century in the making!

Oh and guys, please don’t try that grinder thing on your wife or your mom’s diamonds

We get asked this question all the time! So, here are a few facts about Palladium from one of the most desirable bridal jewelry designers in the industry, Scott Kay.

Palladium is pure.
It is 95% Palladium and 5% Ruthenium, a property of Platinum. It’s in the Platinum group metal family.

Palladium is natural.
Precious gemstones and metal are mined from the ground. So is Palladium.

Palladium is less dense.
This means it is lighter in weight and that more jewelry will be made from it. Fashion jewelry stands to gain tremendous opportunity in earrings, necklaces and bracelets, as well as larger rings.

Palladium is hard.
It is 12.6% harder then Platinum. This means it is extremely wearable.

Palladium is hypoallergenic.
There are only two parts to this metal – Palladium and Ruthenium. Neither allow will cause skin irritation.

Palladium is whiter.
Palladium won’t tarnish, ship or fade and is absolutely not plated. Palladium is even whiter than Platinum. It’s white luster is smooth and bright…naturally. Unlike white gold, Palladium is naturally white and does not need to be Rhodium plated.

Palladium is economical.
It sells for less then Platinum. This could yield a greater value for the consumer. Even if the price per ounce exceeds Platinum, it is still very affordable since it is less dense.

Palladium is pure, rare, precious and most of all exudes luxury.

The number one reason is that Authorized Breitling Service Centers have watchmakers specifically trained to work on your Breitling watch: On the surface this may seem superficial and completely unrelated to the price you pay and the service you receive, however, consider the following:

These watchmakers are the only ones that are invited frequently for advanced Breitling training at Breitlings U.S.A training facility.

The tools and equipment which they employ for the service of a Breitling meets the very strict requirements of Breitling. These are much more expensive than traditional equipment and require higher maintenance.

Annually, Breitling trained watchmakers add to their tool portfolio to address changes in design of new models.

Only authentic Breitling parts are used in the servicing of your watch.

Oils, greases and lubricants used for servicing your Breitling are the finest and most expensive in the world and meet the strict standards of Breitling.

Screws and parts in your watch are taken apart and put back together with carefully honed screw drivers and brass tweezers so that none of your parts or screw heads become scratched or bruised during the service.

The typical environment in a Breitling watch service room is very specific: The humidity is held at about 35 to 40%. The temperature is constantly at 72 degrees, and a dust collector is constantly running to ensure that no dust particles get into your watch. The ceiling and bench lights are all matched and color specific.

All of the above are very important for your fine timepiece to function properly. Your watch deserves the “SPA” treatment and that is what every Breitling gets when you bring it to a Breitling Authorized Service Center.

This tip will definitely save you some money at some point in your life! Avoid putting your jewelry on over hard surfaces. Some of the most heart breaking repairs come into our store because clients have accidentally dropped their prized possession on the marble floor while trying to put the item on. We see everything from shattered watch crystals to chipped diamonds because of this. And yes , you can chip a diamond.

Diamonds are the “hardest substance known to mankind,” but hardness is only resistance to scratching while toughness is resistance to breaking. The same holds true for sapphire crystals on watches, they resist scratches extremely well but they can be brittle if you drop them! So make a habit of putting your jewelry on over the carpet or the bed if you can help it.

Spread the word, you’ll be doing your friend a huge favor on this one!

We are fortunate to represent Yvel pearls as well as Mikimoto, and when people invest their hard earned money on top quality pearls they want to take care of them. After all, most of the time these pearls will be heirloom pieces they’ll pass on to their children. Here are a few suggestions to keep your pearls looking there best:

~ Pearls should be the last thing you put on before leaving home, and the first thing you remove upon returning.

~ Put on your pearls after using perfume, not before.

~ Wear your pearls as often as possible; they will become hydrated by contact with your skin.

~ Love your pearls – by stroking them you will gently polish them and increase their luster.

~ Store your pearls in a soft pouch or separately lined box.

~ Wipe your pearls with a soft damp cloth after each wearing.

~ Periodically wash them with warm soapy water using a damp cloth.

“I want to purchase a John Hardy bracelet but don’t know what size to get? How do I know what size my wrist is?” Susan from Chicago

Okay guys, I get asked this question all the time while working in customer service at JRDunn.com. HOW DO I FIND OUT MY BRACELET SIZE? And, this is the simplest way that I have found to find out what size bracelet to purchase.

1. Take a string and wrap it around your wrist. Mark where the string meets with your finger.

2. Now, place the string on a ruler and you will get your wrist measurement. Round up to the nearest 1/2 inch.

3. Most manufacturers recommend that your bracelets be anywhere from 1/2 to 1 inch larger than your wrist.

So, if your wrist measures 6.75″, rounding up makes it 7.0″…..we recommend that your bracelets are 7.5″. You could even go up to an 8″ for a bangle effect.

If you have any questions please contact us at JRDunn.com and “Live Chat” with one of our sales professionals.

I would love to hear other suggestions on how to get wrist measurements!
