Some of the big trends this year in jewelry fashion are going to be a surprise to some and a welcome relief for many. For years all we were hearing about was platinum and white gold jewelry.
While I agree that big diamonds and certain color gemstones such as aqua look great in white, it was silly for our industry to ignore the clients who simply preferred the rich allure of yellow gold. Alas, relief for these ladies(my mother is one of them)! Since the beginning of the year we have been heavily focused on buying Italian jewelry designed in 18kt yellow gold. It’s been said that “Gold isn’t a fashion accessory this fall, it’s a necessity.” The styles are long and linky like Mattioli and some feature pearl like accents like Roberto Coin’s Perl’amore. Also keep an eye on Italian designer Marco Bicego he’s been quoted as saying ‘My customer is a universal woman of style and confidence and she enjoys the luxury of travel, fine food, appreciates art, history and fine design.’ Why did we ignore Mom so long she certainly sounds like someone we love to have walk through our doors? It’s fun, it’s bold and it’s gold!
