We get asked this question all the time! So, here are a few facts about Palladium from one of the most desirable bridal jewelry designers in the industry, Scott Kay.
Palladium is pure.
It is 95% Palladium and 5% Ruthenium, a property of Platinum. It’s in the Platinum group metal family.
Palladium is natural.
Precious gemstones and metal are mined from the ground. So is Palladium.
Palladium is less dense.
This means it is lighter in weight and that more jewelry will be made from it. Fashion jewelry stands to gain tremendous opportunity in earrings, necklaces and bracelets, as well as larger rings.
Palladium is hard.
It is 12.6% harder then Platinum. This means it is extremely wearable.
Palladium is hypoallergenic.
There are only two parts to this metal – Palladium and Ruthenium. Neither allow will cause skin irritation.
Palladium is whiter.
Palladium won’t tarnish, ship or fade and is absolutely not plated. Palladium is even whiter than Platinum. It’s white luster is smooth and bright…naturally. Unlike white gold, Palladium is naturally white and does not need to be Rhodium plated.
Palladium is economical.
It sells for less then Platinum. This could yield a greater value for the consumer. Even if the price per ounce exceeds Platinum, it is still very affordable since it is less dense.
